Who is Ryan, Founder of ROBAN Design?

Hello, and thank you so much for your interest in ROBAN Design! My name is Ryan Banning, I am the owner and founder of ROBAN Design. I am so happy that you have decided to trust us to fulfill your engineering needs. Building construction and land development can be a very emotional and expensive experience and I know you have been looking for someone you can trust to deliver a beautiful quality project and be your partner in this incredibly important step.

During my career of more than 20-years practicing as a professional Civil Engineer, I have delivered some of the region’s best and most beautiful projects, turning my client’s dreams into reality. From nationally recognized master planned projects like Heron Lakes at TPC Colorado and Water Valley to single-family grading designs and including commercial, industrial, and municipal projects I’m excited to make your project a success. Always cost conscious, my goal is to deliver you the best project for your investment.

As a trusted professional, I hold bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Colorado State University and Colorado Professional Engineering licensure. Over the past two decades, I’ve had the privilege of leading multidisciplinary teams on a variety of projects—from municipal revitalization projects and highway expansions to sustainable urban developments, all the way down to the individual single-family home plans. My passion lies in optimizing design, ensuring safety and compliance, and delivering solutions that not only meet technical specifications but also serve communities and clients for generations to come.

I pride myself on staying at the forefront of engineering best practices, combining hands-on field experience with the latest in design software and project management methodologies. Some of the areas where I bring value include:
- Infrastructure planning and design (roads, drainage, utilities)
- Construction oversight and quality assurance
- Budgeting, scheduling, and resource management
- Environmental impact assessments and regulatory compliance
- Cross-disciplinary team leadership and stakeholder engagement

Every project presents its own unique challenges, and I relish the opportunity to apply creative problem-solving—whether it’s mitigating site constraints, optimizing material use, or incorporating sustainable design elements.
When I’m not working, I switch gears to being "Husband" and “Dad.” I’m a proud father of three teens, and I absolutely love every messy, laughter-filled moment we share. Coaching their soccer teams has become one of my favorite weekend rituals. There’s nothing quite like guiding a group of eager young athletes: teaching them teamwork, watching their skills grow, and celebrating every goal—both on the field and off. My wife of over 20 years, Raven, and I have enjoyed raising these sweet kids and building our lives here in Northern Colorado.

I believe strong engineers need balanced lives—and my formula is simple: family time, a dash of friendly competition, and plenty of fresh air. Whether we’re watching a movie, battling it out in a backyard soccer match, or planning our next family road trip, I make it my mission to be fully present. These moments recharge my creativity and remind me why I do what I do: building better environments today for healthier, happier communities tomorrow.
Thanks for stopping by to learn a bit about me. If you’d like to connect for a project, share notes on sustainable design, or hear my latest dad-joke at the soccer sidelines, feel free to reach out!
